The Overland Joining Tibet with EBC Tour is an exhilarating 8-day adventurous journey that takes you through the north foot stand of the largest mountain peak in the world, Mt. Everest, also called Sagarmatha in Nepal and Chomolungma in China, to the wonderfully isolated realms of Tibet. Everest (8,848 m).

Mt. Everest (8,848 m) has two camps: one in Nepal, at an altitude of 5,364 m (17,598 ft), and one in Tibet, at a relatively low elevation, which is also one of the major highlights of Tibet. EBC by Overland Tour, along with Tibet’s prominent iconic landmarks like  Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street, show an interesting and harmonious fusion of ancient Tibetan culture, modern influences, and religious learnings that has led to controlled numbers of visitors only throughout the years.

Therefore, the Overland Tibet Tour with a side trip to Everest Base Camp (EBC) is an excellent opportunity to travel around Tibet and unveil its cultural, historical, and religious mystery, progressing through the breathtaking Tibetan plateau dotted with sacred lakes, high mountain passes, remote villages, Buddhist monasteries, gompas, and other monuments dating back centuries, offering a glimpse into the typical Tibetan way of life along with rare opportunity to witness the grandeur of Mt. Everest and notable eight thousanders such as Lhotse(8,516 m), Makalu (8,485 m), and Cho Oyu (8,188 m).

Hence, on the way to Overland Group Joining Tibet with EBC Tour, you can expect to be surrounded by the grand Himalayan peaks, hills, and immeasurable cultural exploration like never before, with some potential risk of acute mountain sickness as you approach highly elevated areas, specifically the Everest Base Camp (EBC) coming altogether to have created you unforgettable memories to cherish throughout your lifetime, as assured by:

Scenic Overland Journey through Unique Route

The 8-day Overland Group Joining Tibet with Everest Base Camp (EBC) Tour involves a journey across the vast Tibetan Plateau, which is stunningly characterized by high altitude passes, expansive grassland, and other fascinating locations such as the Yamdrok Lake, Karola Glacier, and ancient Gyantse Dzong, through a relatively lesser-known Himalayan route called the Silk Road, which once served as a treading trail between several countries, experiencing all the dramatic scenery of the Himalayas.

This specific itinerary is designed so that you get to experience the striking views of Mount Everest from a unique perspective, where Rongbuk Monastery and EBC can be the best vantage points for you. At the same time, the overall journey is diverted from the classic Everest Base Camp Trail which usually tends to begin with a scenic flight to Lukla. However, this tour promises a well-rounded experience of Tibetan culture, history, and natural beauty, much added by an in-between visit to Everest Base Camp.

An unparalleled cultural immersion

The Overland Group Joining Tibet with an EBC tour of 8 days begins with a drive to Kerung from Kathmandu, passing by beautiful traditional villages in the countryside areas of Nepal largely influenced by Tibetan Buddhism and the Tibetan way of life, offering a rich cultural immersion amidst the awe-inspiring landscapes rich in spiritual experiences. Lhasa, the main trade and cultural hub of Tibet, alone gives you access to the astounding Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama; Jhokhang Temple, the most sacred temple in the region; and Barkhor Street, the bustling market to observe the daily lives of locals.

In addition, the Drepung and Sera monasteries (some of the largest monasteries in Tibet), the Tashilhunpo monasteries in Tibet), the Tashilhunpo monastery in Shigatse with the seat of Panchen Lama (the second highest most influential person in Tibetan Buddhism), Gyantse (the largest stupa of the region), and Shigatse (the second largest city in Tibet after Lhasa), and Ronbguk Monastery at an altitude of 5,009 m in proximity to the Everest Base Camp in the north with one of the most panoramic views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m) add much to the cultural immersion during the Overland Group Joining Tibet with EBC Tour.

An amazing side visit to the Everest Base Camp (EBC)

No wonder reaching the base of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, is the dream of every adventurous soul, leading to multiple itineraries such as Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lake with Two High Passes, and other luxurious routes such as Everest Base Camp by Helicopter, and others.

Much to the pleasure of cultural enthusiasts, the Overland Group joining Tibet with the EBC Tour is also an unforgettable opportunity to experience the awe-inspiring scale and beauty of the Himalayas to arrive at the Everest Base Camp (EBC), a natural amphitheater serving as an impressive viewpoint.

Reaching this side of the Everest Base Camp in Tibet at an altitude of 5,150 m is also easily accessible even by vehicle, unlike the South Everest Base Camp in Nepal, both of which serve as the gateway to summiting the largest mountain peak on the planet, including the North Col route, which offers unparalleled views of Everest’s towering North Face through the remote and rugged landscapes of the Tibetan Plateau.

Warming hospitality of locals

The combined overland Tibet with EBC Tour goes to the traditional villages of Sherpa and Tibetan people, who are renowned for their resilience, rich cultural and religious heritages, and spirituality, eager to share them with the world. These Himalayan locals often welcome you with genuine warmth, mostly of a friendly and helpful nature, as they offer you butter tea and typical Himalayan snacks and meals such as Thukpa, Thenduk, Dal-Bhat (a staple Nepalese dish), and others in their tea houses, local lodges, or guest houses.

Further, Tibetans and Sherpas hold a strong identity bearing their kind of cultural attire, dialects, culture, festivals, celebrations, music, and dance guided by Tibetan Buddhism deeply connected to the land, Himalayas, nature, and spiritual belief, and are much famed for their superhuman adaptation to the high altitude, even above 4,000 m, where acute mountain sickness (AMS0) or altitude sickness is a common occurrence.

Therefore, the Overland Group Joining Tibet with EBC Tour is a unique opportunity to live the moments with the locals from the Himalayas and create unforgettable memories noted for their legendary hospitality, who believe guests to be another form of god reflecting Buddhist values of compassion, kindness, and community.

A demanding high altitude experience in Tibet

The Overland Trip to Tibet with Everest Base Camp (EBC) includes traversing through high-altitude regions mostly above 5,000 m/16,404 ft above sea level in the rugged Himalayan landscapes of Tibet, including the epic Everest Base Camp (EBC) and highly elevated cultural and historical landmarks such as Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery on the planet, requiring profound acclimatization and resilience to the challenge.

Therefore, though there is no age or experience restriction on who can go on the Tibet with Everest Base Camp (EBC) overland tour, individuals need to be mentally and physically prepared for the journey to avoid possible accidents, acute mountain sickness (AMS), or altitude sickness. This is a golden chance for those looking forward to challenging themselves in the majesty of the Himalayas and demanding a good amount of physical fitness.

    rating

The guide and driver provided the seven persons on the tour, which included me, with excellent service and information about Llasa and the southernTibet sites we viewed. I particularly enjoyed the Mount Everest Tibet basecamp visit and our tour of a Bhudist nunnery.. The accommodations were first class. While the roads in Nepal are unpaved and rocky, the driver and 4by4's shocks and suspension took us through the jolting terrain.
