For experienced climbers, this adventure guarantees an adrenaline rush in a legendary destination.

You have climb two of the most popular trekking peaks in the Nepal Himalaya – Island Peak and Mera Peak. En route, you complete hike to Everest Base Camp at the foot of Mount Everest, the world's tallest mountain. You walk through two national parks, Sagarmatha National Park and Makalu Barun National Park, and experience a diverse Himalayan landscape.

From the lush green valley of Dudh Koshi, you head up to the picturesque alpine and sub-alpine Imja, Upper Hongku, and Hinku valleys. To get to the base camps of the two mountains you make a challenging traverse of two difficult mountain passes – Kongma La and Amphu Labtsa. Experienced guides will be guiding you throughout the adventure and we have included acclimatization and contingency days to deal with problems related to high altitude and bad weather on the mountain.

Your adventure begins from Lukla, from where you trek all the way to Everest Base Camp via the Sherpa villages of Phakding, Monjo, Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche, etc. Crossing the mighty Kongma La, one of the three great passes of Khumbu, you head to Island Peak Base Camp. You make your summit bid and reach the peak’s summit in a single day, without camping on the mountain.

After a successful summit, you make your way to Mera Peak, Nepal's highest trekking peak. Crossing the difficult Amphu Labtsa Pass, you enter the Makalu Barun National Park. A walk through the stunning Upper Hongku Valley brings you to the Mera Peak Base Camp. You make the easy ascent to the peak and return to Lukla via the picturesque and isolated Hingku Valley.

As Island and Mera Peak Climbing with EBC Trek requires technical climbing skills, this adventure is only for those who have some experience climbing on ice, rock, and snow. This is a high-altitude adventure where you get to test your physical as well as mental strength and endurance.

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the personnel of Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks will come to greet you and take you to your hotel.

Following refreshments in the evening, your guide or tour leader will brief you on the upcoming trek, which is also the best time to get your doubts cleared

Today, you will board an early flight from the domestic airport of Kathmandu around 5–6 am, which is equally scenic and thrilling, taking 30–40 minutes to Lukla.

From Lukla, you will begin an ascending trek to Phakding that lasts between 3 and 4 hours, watching the graceful peaks of Kusum Kangaru (6,367m), Mt. Nupla (5,885m), and others, to finally take a rest at the local guest house in Phakding

The hike of the day is to catch up to the gateway to the Everest region, Khumbu, or Namche Bazaar. Therefore, you will start tracing the trail after breakfast, passing by Jorsalle, numerous waterfalls, lush forests, and the settlements of the Sherpa communities.

The route you will walk through is the definition of nature at its finest, with an amazing backdrop of magnolias and rhododendrons and the melting gaze of Kusum Kangru (6,369m), Thamserku (6,608m), Everest (8,848m), and Nuptse (7,879m).

The last section of the trail is a strenuous ascent to the charming traditional Himalayan valley of Namche Bazaar for a few couple of hours to lastly take the much-desired rest in the guest house.

Acclimating before rising to higher elevation is essential to avoid serious Himalayan ailments known as acute mountain sickness, and hence you are advised to take a quick trip to Thame (3,800m), Khunde (12,600 ft/3,840 m), Khumjung (3,790m), or the Everest View Hotel (3,880 m/12,730 ft).

All of these highly elevated places offer you the best-unobstructed view of the tallest mountain giant in the globe, Mt. Everest or the Sagarmatha, while Namche is known for unwinding to discover the customary life of Sherpa as the tigers of snow

The journey begins after the morning breakfast, ascending rugged terrain and dense woods from Phungithanga, where you can spot musk deer as well, till you reach the holy shrine of Tengboche, encircled by vibrant rhododendrons: Kwongde (6,187m), Tawache (6,542m), Everest (8,848m), Nuptse (7,855m), Lhotse (8,618m), Ama Dablam (6,856m), and Thamserku (6,608m).

While you enjoy these panoramic vistas, you will have already made it to the largest monastery in the Everest region, Tengboche. After completing the visit, you will be spending yet another scenic night at the teahouse.

The morning greets you with spectacular vistas of the surrounding mountains and the golden-colored Tengboche monastery. It's a fantastic time to hike 5–6 hours from Tengboche to another significant monastery in the Everest region famous as Dingboche.

The much-needed lunch break will be at the Imjatse Khola from where the trek continues to the north of the river making a way by several mani walls chortens, and prayer flags around the tiny village you will pass through to call it a day at Dingboche.

The terraced farms of barley, buckwheat, and potatoes en route look truly magnificent along with the astonishing sight of Ama Dablam, Island Peak, and others.

The overall journey is a high-altitude trek around the circuit of the highest mountain on the planet, Mt. Everest; hence, it is necessary to acclimatize well before ascending to a drastic elevation. So, on the seventh day, you will first climb a bit to Nangkartshang Gompa and then descend back to let your body cope with the chilly environment of the mountain.

If you are hopeful of seeing Makalu Barun, the fifth tallest mountain worldwide, you can take a walk by the Imja Khola to Chhukung, which is going to be an epic journey of 4-5 hours.

You will resume the journey through the alpine region by leaving Dingboche upon crossing the Imja Khola on a suspension bridge, passing by a stone-inscribed wall along the trekking trail.

While you do so, the breathtaking vistas of Cholatse, Lobuche, Nuptse, and Pumori can be seen until you arrive at the guesthouse of Lobuche to stay overnight

The first section of the trek begins in Lobuche, which takes you via the narrow passage amidst the glacier’s moraine and the Mani walls to traverse the river tribulation to make it to the lake bed called Ghorak Shep.

From Ghorak Shep, you will have a real interaction with the goal of the overall journey to the Everest region, the Everest Base Camp. Besides being a natural amphitheater with dramatic landscapes mostly covered in snow, a base camp is also a stopping place for mountaineers to adequately prepare before actually summiting the peak.

After spending a fulfilling time in the base camp, you will have to return to Gorak Shep to spend the night in a comfortable guesthouse, reminiscing about the amazing ambiance of the base camp.

We will leave early tomorrow morning on the 10th day and the weather is also bright and clear most of the time which helps when climbing Kala Patthar.
