Mount Kailash (6638m) is one of the holy mountains in South Asia, believed to be the abode of Hindu Lord Shiva. Mount Kailash can be considered as a center of four religions--Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and the followers of Bon Pa religion. However, Kailash receives only few pilgrims every year because of its remote location. For followers of Hindu religion, Mount Kailash is the place where Lord Shiva resides with his wife and Goddess Parvati along with other helpers.  Likewise, Tibetans revere Mount Kailash as Kang Rimpoche (Paths of the Soul), while the followers of ancient Bon Pa religion take Kailash to be the soul of Tibet. Similarly, Mount Kailash is Mount Ashtapada for the followers of Jain religion as they believe their saint Rishabanatha achieved spiritual liberation at Mount Kailash.

Hindus believe that a single rotation around Mount Kailash will spiritually purify an individual by wiping off all their sins committed in their life. Also, a total of 108 circumambulations of Mount Kailash will break us free from the never ending cycle of life and death.

Our 10-day itinerary will take you to the reclusive lands of Mount Kailash where you will enjoy the mountain and the adjoining natural landscape. Lake Manasarovar is one of the high points of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.  We travel by helicopter for most of the distance.  During the Kailash Parikrama spiritual walk and circumambulation, we will be walking and enjoying the scenery.  This is a absolutely stunning tour, from helicopter views to the cultural and spiritual beauty in between.

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the Adventure Himalayan representatives will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. After refreshment, you will be briefed in short about your tour by our guide or tour leader.  If you have any questions or doubts about your trip then they should be asked and clarified at this time. Overnight stay at hotel.

After breakfast the next morning, we will go for an interesting tour around Kathmandu city. Being escorted by an English speaking guide (we can provide you with any language speaking guide on your request), you will visit the temples and monuments and get the full taste of our culture, heritage and local people. In our sightseeing tour, we will go to several UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu.
After sightseeing tour,  we'll take you to the airport to catch your flight for Nepalgunj. It takes around 45 minutes of scenic flying. Our representative will pick you in airport and transfer you to your hotel, overnight stay at hotel.

Early morning on this day, you will be transferred to the airport (10 minutes from Hotel) to fly to Hilsa (the border between Nepal and China), in Humla district. Before reaching Hilsa, your helicopter lands at Simikot, the administrative headquarters of Humla district of Nepal. You will land here as the border immigration office of Nepal is situated here and according to the regulations of Nepal, you must put exit stamp on your Passport before you leave for China or the Kailash. The formalities take about 30 to 45 minutes. After completing the formalities in Simikot, you will continue your journey to Hilsa. Once you land at Hilsa, you cross the Karnali River along a suspension bridge and enter the China side and then continue trekking up to Sher village. The Chinese immigration office and Border Check Post is situated in Sher village. Your vehicles (Land Cruisers & truck) will be waiting there as well. The actual trek takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour to reach Sher from the suspension bridge. It might take at least two hours to gather all group members & luggage in immigration office up in Sher. However, the formalities don't take long. From Sher, it takes another one hour to reach Purang (Taklakot).  Overnight in Purang.

This day, we will rest at Taklakot for acclimatization purpose. As you have gained enormous height within a day while coming to Taklakot, it would be wise to acclimatize for a day before making any further journey to the higher elevation. However, the trekkers can also arrange a short visit to the Khojarnath Temple (the ancient temple of Ram, Sita and Laxman), an optional program and you will have to pay for transport (going and coming back) as well as the entrance fee of the temple. Or else, you might stroll around the city on your own and visit the ruins of ancient Taklakot. The temple is 1100 years old. Overnight in Purang.

Early morning after breakfast, we will depart for Lake Manasarovar from Purang. Your Kailash Parikrama begins on this day. We will drive for about 75 km to reach Mansarovar via Rakshash Tal. We have a short break in Rakshas Taal (Lake Ravana) to take some pictures & take in the scenery. After a short break in Rakshas Taal, we continue your journey to Lake Manasarover. The journey on the day will take us to the beautiful and sacred Mansarovar Lake set amidst the extraordinary landscape. After taking a holy bath and performing Puja and other religious rituals, we perform Parikrama at the sacred Manasarovar. From this vantage point, we can even get a glimpse of the majestic Mount Kailash. This journey leaves us spiritually fulfilled and content.  Overnight at Lake Manasarovar.

After performing puja and taking a holy dip in the Lake, we will drive 10km to Yam Dwar (Or Serso) (4750m), the auspicious gateway to the Parikrama (circuit) around Mt. Kailash. Also, it is the sky burial site of local Tibetan people. From here, you can see the closest view of the Mt. Kailash. Also, this is the particular place from where the group normally splits in two parts. Those, who are willing to perform the holy circumambulation around the Mt. Kailash will start trekking from "Yama Dwar" and the rest of the people who are not willing to go for trekking will return Darchen on Jeep and wait for others to come. The trail to Dera Phuk is easy & flat. However, because of the high elevation, you may find difficulty to walk. The total journey to Dera Phuk Gompa (4890m/18 km) requires round 5 to 6 hours respectively.

After breakfast, we prepare for our strenuous, yet very rewarding walk to Zuthulphuk.  In total, we trek about 22km, taking about 8-10 hours.  This is the day every pilgrim talks about, as it is the most difficult day through out the trip.  We trek up to Dolma La Pass (5600m), where we will offer some prayers, and descend to Zuthulphuk.  Overnight in guest house here.

Today is the final day for Parikrama. After completing Parikarma, we drive back to Purang (Taklakot). After which, we feel refreshed and drive to Sher. After completing the immigration formalities, we will walk down to Hilsa which will take around 45 minutes. Overnight stay at Hilsa.

After breakfast, take the helicopter to Simikot and then again to Nepalgunj from Simikot. From Nepalgunj airport, you will catch a connecting flight to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the Hotel and you can spend the free time shopping for souvenirs in Kathmandu. We'll have a celebratory dinner in Kathmandu.  Overnight at hotel.

We will transport you to the airport.  Thanks for trekking with Adventure Himalayan Travels.  We look forward to seeing you again!
